Re: Call to Arms for the dreaded U052 Wrong Printhead Error

Welcome to the forum. It has been a few years since I last posted. My canon printer makes for a great anchor.... I wish I could say that it surprises me to see the steady trickle of frustrated Canon printer owners coming to this forum. The fact that there are 1366 posts here should be a clue: Canon has the market in their pocket. They sell products that manage to function as advertised for a year or so then it shuts itself down. In desperation owners think that all of the previous complaints will have resulted in better customer service. Sorry folks. Canon got you too.
The Epson that replaced my anchor continues to give me stellar service.
The only advice that I and those who have hit the U052 wall can give you is this:
Don't waste your time or money listening to techs who will tell you anything except the truth. Send your printer to the local recycling center and replace it with an UP or Epson.

Failed to acquire information on the diver and software. Check the network connection and try again

I rebuilt my computer so i had to download and reinstall the latest software for my PIXMA MX475. Never had a problem until now but this time the software unzipped then I received a pop up message telling me "Failed to acquire information on the diver and software. Check the network connection and try again." I tried many times and the same result. I searched the internet and found many reports of this error, a few had solutions that did not work for me but most never came to a conclusion. I found my problem, it was because i had the WIndows update and BITS services stopped. I restarted them both and problem was ***Resolved***. I suspect this applies to more than just my MX475.

Yes I saw the You Tube Video as previously stated.  Did not help.  Looking at the picture prior to inserting the cartridges the plastic pockets with sides(?) that it slides into is NOT present on my printer.  It is empty!  Where are they?  Since i have had the printer only for several months I was using the ink that was present initialy.  It ran out two days ago and I purchased new ink cartridges.

I have a Canoon MP830 that has been great til recently.  I cannot print from a computer or make a copy.  It sounds like it is going through the motions and prints out a blank page.  I did go  through the print head cleaning and it printed out the test page.  I have not messages and wonder what is the next step

Scanning problem with PIXMA MP800

My MP800 is connected to an i7 desktop PC running Windows 10 version 1607.  The scanner is controlled by MP Navigator 2.0.  Recently (possibly since the update to v1607, but I'm not certain) the scanner frequently hangs at the end of the Nth successive scan.  'N' started out at 6 or more (while scanning multiple slides) but has now come down to 2 and once, today, just 1.  The only cure is to use Task Manager to shut MP Navigator down (when hung the normal shut down is unavailable) and then try again.

This has become absurd.  Today, I had to try five times before I succeeded in scanning a two-page document.  Has anyone else had this problem, or one like it?  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response!  Yes I am stupid.  Gotta turn the printer on before installing cartridges.  That really works great!  Not telling my wife or she will have me tested for Alzheimers.  LOL!

Printing from the computer not printing text

Hi Everyone,

I didn't see anything that looked like my topic - so if I missed it, could someone please direct me to the right discussion?

I don't think anything weird happened - the only thing I do is unplug the laptop from the printer when I take the puter with me. All of a sudden, I cannot print text from the computer. It will copy from the glass just fine. I used a grid on a doc and now only the grid is printing, along with highlights, but no text. Last week, I had no problem printing the grid and the text in another word doc.

Help, please?

Thanks Fodder 5.Your post was the only post that helped me!! But I didn't install anything. I simply went to "Control Panel"-"Devices and printers" and double clicked the canon printer. And as you say through this way IT SCANNED!! So thanks a lot as I wasted some time on this.

PIXMA ip8720 banding on b&w prints

$

Horizontal banding lines on 13x19 and 8.5x11, most noticeable in black of b&w prints.
Canon Premium Matte paper and 3rd party pigment inks from 4inkjets.
Printer settings in PSE 15 are; grayscale, plain paper, high quality, printer managed color.
No problem in nozzel print-outs - no white lines.
Print head alignment sheet shows 7 columns of 18 blocks ea. of blue and black shades - 10 blue and 8 black running consecutively from top to bottom. On the 6th and 7th columns, the black blocks 4 spaces up from the bottom are missing.
Printer is primarily using the PGI 250XL Black cartridge pigment ink that I understand is used mostly for black text when the setting is at "plain paper ". The prints are absolutely free of ANY color casts (green, magenta, cyan) that I get at the supposed "correct" setting for this paper which would be "matte". The prints are rather harsh and contrasty which I like for the subject matter (street documentary) that I an presently printing.
The printer was purchased from B&H 6/26/17 Serial #ADGF2 [MOD NOTE: Serial number removed per FORUM GUIDELINES]
Have done several nozzel checks/cleanings and a few print head alignments both automatic and manual.
I don't really know how to interpret the head alignment print-out described above. But I'm wondering if the two missing blocks of black could result in the banding problem.

Thanks, Russ Marshall

MG5450 printing shadows

Hi. My MG5450 has started printing images slightly offset for example if there is an A, you see another Aalmost on top of the original, but not quite.

This is only does it on the large Black cartridge - all the rest work fine. When you print a test page the offset appears on exactly the same places where the large black cartridge prints but not everywhere.

Any ideas?

I can't believe the long list of things to do to fix my problem. I have always bought Canon products but will definitely choose something else next time.  This is the worst printer I have ever owned. I have followed these instruction when the printer was

new and it works well for a short time and then for no reason will stop working over and over.  It is so disappointing.

Not happy

Almost the same story but with some tweaks - MG5765 stopped switching on one day. After i switched the cable off for some time as it was recommended here, the printer has actually came back to life after i plugged it back in. But not for long  - after normal juggling its printing head back and forth a new error came up on the screen - 1405:The type of print head is not recognized. I tried to do steps recommended in here:
http://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/MG5520-with-support-code-1405/td-p/206230
  - it didn't help.

If i leave printer for some time with this error displayed, it dies again (stops react on the ON button), and to bring it back another power cable disconnection is required.

The printer is a bit more than a year old, kinda upset Smiley Sad
