Ink cartridge compatibility.

I had an MG5650, now replaced with an MG5750. I had spare cartridges for the 5650 - will they work OK in the 5750?

I just received this error today. I just changed the printer cartridges for the first time since updating to Windows 10. Not sure if this is the cause. I'm trying to print out tickets to a show tonight and the canon customer service # is Mon - Fri. Luckily I have a pdf on my phone, but this stinks. I've had this printer I don't know how long and it's been good but I guess I might have to get a new one- since it appears no one had posted here that their situation actually got solved. I'm thinking it's time to try Epson if this is how Canon is going to get us to buy new printers.

Re: MG7120 PGBK problem

I hae same problem.  Tried everything.  The only fix I found is to print without the PGBK ink (by changing the paper type to matte photo or high-resolution paper).  This sucks since I only print documents & the PGBK ink is better/clearer typically.  Plus I'm sitting here with a bunch of PGBK ink that I can't use.

Any help from canon (besides take it in to be serviced).  I'd do that if they paid for everything but I doubt that is the case.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

I'm so angry about this.  I puchased a printerhead cleaning kit.  I spent a whole day cleaning the printer head.  I purchased all new ink.  I wasted a ton of ink doing a bunch of nozzle checks, deep cleaning, etc.

The only thing that works is NOT using the PGBK cartridge which is SLOWWWW and WASTEFUL.

Its CRAZY that canon won't give us a new printer head for free.  Heck I want them to also give me replacement ink for what I wasted trying to solve this problem that is obviously in their hardware or firmware.  Ugh.

Me too.  Canon should be helping us and fix this problem!!!

My printer is a MG7120 but its the same problem.  Only switching the paper type to matte photo or high-resolution paper (which stops using the PGBK ink) has worked.  This is wasteful and SLOW.

Has anyone found anything else useful?

I have the same problem with my MG7120.  Nothing except NOT using the PGBK cartridge has worked (switching paper type to high-resolution paper or matte photo).  This is super slow, wasteful, and worse text quality.

Apparently its a printerhead fault that canon is refusing to acknowledge and fix.  They say we're supposed to try and get a refund from where we purchased the printer.  Yeah right.

Cleaning the encoder film did not help the problem at all -- just wasted more time.

My printer is a MG7120 with the same problem (and looks like a lot of the Canon printers have this problem).  Only switching the paper type to matte photo or high-resolution paper (which stops using the PGBK ink) has worked.  This is wasteful, SLOW, and worse quality for text.

After all the canon support suggestions failed (including cleaning the encoder film multiple times); I puchased all new ink & a printerhead cleaning kit.  I spent another whole day cleaning the printer head manually.  I wasted a ton of ink doing a bunch of nozzle checks, printhead alignments, deep cleanings, etc.  The only thing that works is to NOT use the PGBK cartridge.

Why isn't canon addressing this problem that LOTS of people are having on multiple models?  Sounds like the printerhead needs to be replaced but canon won't admit that or supply new heads.

Its CRAZY that canon won't give us a new printer head for free.  Heck I want them to also give me replacement ink for what I wasted trying to solve this problem that is obviously in their hardware or firmware.  Ugh.  So dissapointed.

Thank you thank you thank you! Last minute I decided to Google the problem and voila! Your solution fixed the problem! I was JUST about to order a new printer, annoyed that I seemed to be buying one every year or so ... and hardly use it, but need it, and this fixed it! Good to know!

I ordered online a new printhead in a chinese shop. 33€ I am waiting that it arrive. I tried to clean accurately the printhead un assembled it but the result was just that the printer now print all the colors but the distortions of PGBK is still present and evident.

My Mg2522 printer recently just started saying it was out of ink and started to skip like every 3rd line when printing. the Ink was just replaced so this can not be the problem, there is no blurred lines and the ink that prints is dark. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for the solution! Plagued with the same problem for several days now with my ix6560 printer.

Still hoping to get the pigment black cartridge going in some manner. I do hope 'Canon Expert' is going to offer some do-it-yourself solution other than what is already there in the help manual.
