Re: Error code 5011

Greetings,

The error indicates there is a jam, obstruction or communication failure.

This is the first steps:

Canon : PIXMA Manuals : MX920 series : 5011

Which doesn't always resolve the issue.

The next thing to do is look for an obstruction or jam.  Canned air and a flashlight might be helpful here.  This can be a corner or ripped piece of paper, or something that has become trapped or lodged under the printhead.  For this, I would remove the ink cartridges and the printhead.  Inspect and reassemble, then reseat the inks.  Reconnect to power and test.

If that doesn't work the issue is not going to be something you can fix on your own.  You can contact Canon and decide if you want to go though packing the printing up for shipping, schlepping it to a repair facility and paying for diagnosis and repair...,  or simply replace it.

The printer stopped printing mid document.  I have deleted all pending print documents and reinstalled this printer as the default printer.

I still receive the B202 message that instructs me to contact the service center.

Greetings,

I reccommend you confirm your printer is connected to your wireless network.  Have you verified this?

Canon Knowledge Base - Wi-Fi Set Up Using Cableless Method - PIXMA MG3520 / MG3522

Once done, confirm its IP address...  now use that to add the printer (as an IP printer) to your Mac

Follow the steps in the article above, selecting your OS for more details.  Note, if one or more failed instances of the printer exists on your MAC, you may want to remove those prior to performing another installation attempt.

TS8320 - Green color is way off.

Hi,

We bought and set up the printer in September, but this is the first time we tried to pront color. My wife printer out mailing labels and it looked like anything green was very off - maybe a bluish brown color. So, I created a text document in Google Doc with a sentence printed in blue, yellow and green. The blue was close if a little dark. The yellow seemed pretty good. The green was supposed to be a bright green, but it was a brownish dark green. Really far off.

I printed the same text from MS Word and had the same results.. I tired wach of the color correction settings (none, driver, icm) and it has no effect (not sure if it should).  I printed out a test page which seemed fine. The colors were very muted but no banding and every color printed.

I'm not sure if it is a setting or if the printer is faulty, or maybe this model printer just stinks. Our last Canon printer worked fine out of the box).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rob

Thank you so much for this suggestion.  It seems to have done the trick and my printing is coming out much better.

I realize the printer needs servicing what I'm asking is how exactly do you do that?

MX925 cleaning too much

My MX925 printer is now cleaning every time it is turned on and after every time it prints, i.e. I can print sometihing every five minutes or so and it cleans after every one. I am sure it did not do this much, maybe every ten prints, it is wasting so much ink.

ai contacted Canon with the same problem and, as I was out of warranty, they sold me a new black print head for $59Cdn.  My black problem is resolved, but now I have no colored ink flowing to the color print head.  Canon's answer to this was that I should probably buy a new printer $240 Cdn) as it would probably be cheaper than sending it in for repair!  I see they now have a new G3260 printer with a different ink number.

Imageclass MF4770n intermittent problems

I've had my ImageClass MF4770n for a while now and for the most part has been a good machine.

I have the printer set up on the network so is connected directly to my router.  I have had this issue on several versions of Windows ranging from Vista to Windows 10.

Every once in a while there is a problem when printing to it, the documents show up in the print queue but do not print.. There are never any errors or anything to indicate what the problem is. Sometimes turning it off and then back on will solve the problem. When that doesn't work I delete the print job and try again. That does not work most times. To save time I then switch to my local printer and move on. This is not a good option if I am prining anything more than 10 pages because the one connected to my PC is an inkjet and well, the laster if fater and toner is cheaper than ink.

I have also tried resolving the issue by uninstalling the printer and reinstalling from scratch. This seems to help but the problem does eventually come back.

I have ran Windows troubleshooting and it never finds a problem. Someone suggested maybe my firewall is blocking my connection to the printer but I can see no evidence of that.

Does anyone have any suggestions to better troubleshoot the problem?

MX472 Error Code 1485 "Unsupported Ink Cart"

$

I've had this printer several years so maybe it's just time for a new printer. We ran out of Black ink, so I went to the store and bought the same exact cartridge, Canon brand and everything. When I replaced it, I got the following error message:

"Unsupported Ink Cart 1485 Col"

I am assuming that this means it isn't reading the Color cartridge properly? The color cartridge isn't Canon brand, but it's been working since forever, and we never print color so we haven't had to worry about it.

There is a software update, but when I try to apply it, it gives me an error that says the printer is busy. I actually can't do anything with the printer (clean or align heads) because apparently this cartridge issue trumps everything else. The whole Remote UI tells me the printer is busy.

I've tried a hard reset, too and it gives me the error message as soon as it boots back up. Can I bypass this? Are there any other solutions out there other than going and buying a Color cartridge?

Re: mx922 Not working. Error 1403: Incorrect Print Head

Have exactly the same problem error 1403 on power up indicating the print head is "incorrect".  Tried all the basics removing print head leaving unplugged for a day but no help.  Also disassembled the print head removing the two screws on the bottom plastic component and cleaned inside with alcohol re-assembled and get the same error.  I have previously been a fan of canon printers and I recommended this one to the customer just over a year ago.  The "built in obsolescence" team succeeded if the objective was to get you to give up your investment to buy another after the warranty expires.  I'll be looking to another brand for future recommendations.  I'm looking for someone who has replaced the print head in this situation wondering if that fixed the problem?

MX922 error code 1008

Almost everytime I try to print the error code 1008 shows up.   I remove the paper, fiddle with the guides and reinsert.   Sometimes this works, but usually I have to power off the printer, then when I turn it back on it will print for 2-3 pages, then 1008 again.

One more angry Canon MX922 owner here.  Just got the same cursed 1403 error that seems to be so common and all the usual recommendations have failed to clear the error.

I've read here that the mainboard could also be at fault and if that's the case it could burn out a new print head, if I decide to go that route.  Is there any way to tell if it's the print head or mainboard?

MF642 printing to custom paper size

I'm trying to print to 5.25 x 7.25 envelopes.  I've added this paper size to the printing, but the Print Properties dialogue box, paper size, doesn't list this paper size that I've added to the printer and there is no apparent way to added a custom paper size from the Print Properties app.  Please help.

MG2220 printer

I have a briefly used MG2220 printer (in storage) that has a couple of minor problems from sitting. Powers up fine and operates but ink tanks are dry since it hardly prints at all. Ink absorber pads are identified and can be cleaned easily, but does this model have an actual printer head? Aren't the ink tanks themselves the "printer head" sitting in the plastic cradle? It's not like some newer models on youtube showing the print head removal and manual cleaning process.

6004 printer error TR8520 how fix?

I printed out a one page job with Cardstock a few days ago, and it gave an error code 6004, and asks for the printer to be turned off and on again if the printer error persists. It's persisted. Has anyone else gotten this, and if so, how did you fix it, if you could fix it?
